About Mica Poerio:

Mica Poerio
Mica has been teaching private lessons in violin and
viola since 2006. He received his primary education in violin, studying with soloist Oliver Steiner, David Arenz, the principle second violinist for the ASO, and Christos Galileas at Georgia State University. He is currently earning his Bachelor's degree in
both English and Viola Performance at Georgia State University
and is studying viola with Mrs. Tania Clements. He has
participated in freelance chamber groups for the majority of his
musical career, and currently clinics a children's string
orchestra in Decatur (SODA).

Mica runs sectionals at Jonesboro high school and teaches beginning cello lessons. He participated in multiple GMEA Honors and All-State orchestras throughout his high school career, and his quartet was selected to perform for the GMEA convention in Savannah.

Mica's teaching philosophy is a combination of Suzuki and
traditional methods, isolated various elements of the violin
technique and then gradually combining them with reading
music. He stresses the importance of learning how to practice
and the parent's involvement in that process.
