Emily Wienand
Piano / Guitar / Flute

Emily Wienand was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She began taking piano lessons at the age of six in her grade school during lunch and quickly discovered her talent for playing the piano. From there she went on to take private lessons from teachers in her local area and even studied at the Cleveland

Institute of Music.

When Emily's family moved to Kent, Ohio in 1992 her mother began looking for a new piano teacher. Shortly after moving, Emily began lessons with the wife of the famous Hugh A. Glausser, for whom the Music building was dedicated to at Kent State University. Because of this connection, Emily was able to participate in recitals given at Kent State University as a solo pianist during her early teenage years.

Emily has always enjoyed performing either as a soloist or accompanist. In high school, while she was still studying solo piano, she began to accompany the high school choirs. She would also accompany students during the solo and ensemble seasons.

From here, Emily went on to study Piano Performance at Kent State University. She’s performed as a solo pianist and participated in many ensembles. Her favorite playing was with the Jazz band, directed by Chas Baker, and the Steel Drum band. She was also the accompanist for the Women's Choir and Kent State students on all instruments during finals and juries.

Emily has been teaching piano, flute, and guitar for the last seven years at a studio in Hudson Ohio, were she is a senior teacher. Emily also works as the worship leader and hand bell director at The First Christian Church in Kent Ohio. She still continues her accompanying with the Hoban Archbishop High School choirs.

Emily has recently been accepted to attend the Larry Crab School for Piano Technology in Tucker GA. She is very excited to learn about all 12000 parts of the piano and how to repair and tune them.

Emily's teaching style is fun, friendly and energetic. She has taught students of all ages and levels. Emily likes to blend into her lessons theory concepts and historical facts about a given piece to her students so that they have a more complete understanding of the music that they are studying. Emily's favorite genres of music are those from the Romantic era and Ragtime. She also enjoys Rock n' Roll, especially on the guitar.
