Eric Hassel
Piano

Eric Hassel was drawn to composing at the age of eight and has steadily developed as a performer and composer ever since. As a teen, he studied Jazz piano with Julliard’s John Mehegan. He went on to study Classical piano with James Hutchinson at St Lawernce

 

University. He studied Jazz Piano, Composition, and Improvisation with Ray Santisi and Gary Burton at Berklee College of Music; As well as excelling in the B.M. Music Ed. Program there.

A Professional musician for most of his life, Eric has extensive performing experience. From solo piano, jazz duo, trio, and quartet to larger ensembles, Eric has played in a variety of venues including concerts, festivals, special events and corporate conventions. His clients include Microsoft, Turner Broadcasting, CNN, Panasonic, Cannon, Chateau Elan, The Atlanta Ballet, the Carter Center and numerous others throughout the southeast. He has provided freelance keyboard support for national acts, toured internationally and recently performed original music with his electric Jazz trio. Eric also performs with the Redeemer Jazz Trio for the popular contemporary worship service at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta, which is also broadcast on A.I.B. cable television.

Collaborating on numerous recording projects, Eric has produced music for radio, television, corporate video and multimedia productions. Drawing on his electric style, he has composed, arranged, performed and produced devotional Indian bhajans, Jazz, Gospel, Sacred and New Age music recordings with a variety of artist. Eric’s original composition “Forever” is featured on saxophonist Dan Moretti’s “Impressions” CD on Soundworks. He is a guest artist on Jonn Serrie’s Miramar recordings, “Ixlanda” and Midsummer Century”. Additionally, Eric has arranged, performed and produced a flute/piano duo Christmas CD, and produced a flute/harp duo sacred music CD for Pamplin Records. He also has produced and recorded a well-received CD of original piano themes entitled, “Rhythm of Life”.

Eric’s mission is to communicate feeling, imagery and positive energy through music. Well versed in classical and jazz harmony, he crafts elegant melodies set in rich harmonic and rhythmic schemes. He fluently blends Jazz, New Age, Classical and Latin Styles with keyboard artistry to convey his musical vision. Believing that music is a sacred art for expression, healing and transformation, Eric works with clarity and spontaneity to create compose, perform and produce music that moves the listener, and is commercially promoted and enjoyed by many.

Eric also enjoys sharing his musical knowledge and expertise with piano students of all ages; with dedication and patience he helps them establish and reach their musical goals. The power of music is extraordinary and as research has shown it strengthens left-brain / right brain integration, coordination and memory. Studies also show spatial reasoning needed for strong analytical and academic performance. It is Eric’s goal to promote all the above in a relaxed yet focused environment and enroll the student in the enjoyment of the learning process. His lessons are custom tailored to each individual, drawing on their strengths, utilizing motivation and inspiration to foster musical growth.
