Hollie Lawing
Trombone / Brass Specialist

Hollie Lawing Graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Music performance from Georgia State University under the highly acclaimed Trombone professor, Dr. Tom Gibson. Soon after, Hollie pursued Graduate Studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Now happily back in Georgia, Hollie is an active Trombonist and Music Educator in the Atlanta Area.

As a performer, Ms. Lawing has played

 

with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Columbus, Augusta, Cobb, Carroll, Youngstown, Warren and many other Symphony Orchestras in various locations. She has been Principal Trombonist with the Carl Rosa Opera Company US Tour, the Sigmund-Romberg Tour, and has performed on several occasions with the Atlanta Pops orchestra, including a four-week tour in Taiwan.

Ms. Lawing serves as Principal Trombonist with the Georgia Brass Band, the only traditional style British Brass band In Atlanta, Georgia. The band made another highly successful trip to Louisville, KY coming away with 2nd place in the Honors Section at the NABBA Championships, 2007.

Ms. Lawing is a charter member of the Midtown Brass Quintet, a group of talented, vivacious free-lance musicians located in the heart of Atlanta. The group, mostly comprised of the Principal players in the Georgia Brass Band, performs recitals at local Universities; provide a classical plethora of entertainment at many weddings, corporate functions, and holiday gatherings around the Atlanta area.

Ms. Lawing is currently the Low Brass Instructor at the Lovett School, and the Private Trombone Instructor for the Lassiter, Pope, and Kell High School music Conservatories, in addition to teaching private lessons in her home. She is very proud of her student's accomplishments and maintains a strong studio of 6th-12th Grade young musicians. Most of whom continue to pursue positions in the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestras and Brass Bands, Cobb County Honor bands, Georgia All-State bands, and the Atlanta Symphony Youth orchestra.
