Keith Phillips
Piano, Composition

Keith began taking piano lessons at six years of age. At 12 years of age he began studying with a legendary teacher in Greenville, SC who taught at Furman University and the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. He was a SC state winner in the SC Music piano auditions three years and won multiple scholarships to Brevard Music Center for two summers.

His family moved back to Athens, GA when Keith was in the tenth grade. This

began a diversification of his musical talents including accompanying the Cedar Shoals High School chorus and his high school jazz band. He also began accompanying a local church youth choir. All the while he continued his classical training.

He attended Furman University on an academic and music scholarship as a piano performance major. Later he transferred to the University of Georgia and obtained a degree in accounting. He served as a church pianist for 15 years and also played with local Athens bands in rhythm and blues, rock and country.

His piano teaching career began in 1998 at the European School of Music in Atlanta. He has taught hundreds of students over the years at that school and at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Cobb County and in students’ homes. In addition he has played piano in a number of churches in the Atlanta area.

After many years of performing and composing he has produced six CDs of his own piano compositions and orchestrations under his own record label, Sleepy River Music. Over 10,000 of his CDs have been sold through more than 200 gift shops around the U. S., at festivals, and worldwide over the Internet. Two of his CDs, Nightfall and Daydreams, were used by the Atlanta Symphony as fundraiser CDs.
