Maria MacDonald
Piano, Trumpet, Voice, Guitar

Maria McDonald, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, currently resides in Kennesaw where she is working towards a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance at Kennesaw State University. Her musical passion began at the age of 8 after seeing a production of Don Giovanni by the Minnesota.

Theater has always been important to Maria. During high school, in

Poughkeepsie, New York, Maria began getting involved in community and professional theater. This love of the stage eventually led to performing leading and supporting roles in musicals such as Meet Me In St. Louis, Guys and Dolls, and The Wizard of Oz. Now living in Atlanta, GA, she has performed in operas such as Elixir of Love and H.M.S. Pinafore, performed in NATS master classes.

Maria currently teaches private piano, trumpet, voice, guitar, and recorder. In addition she accompanied voice students and tutors middle school and high school students in preparation for Georgia All-State Auditions where she is proud to say they have all been able to perform with the All-State Bands and All-State Choirs.

Maria loves working with young students starting at age 4. Her method is focused around the classical style of music. The purpose is to give a student a firm foundation in good technique, the theory behind what they play, various performance practices specialized to various time periods, an understanding of how music is put together, along with how to apply these skills to other genres, such as pop, jazz, rock, etc. These are skills that she believes are needed to create a well-rounded musician. In the end, Maria hopes each student gains a life-long appreciation and love for the arts, whether professionally or for a life-long enjoyment.
