Michon Reynolds
Violin / Viola / Piano

At the young age of four years old and without any exposure to classical music, Ms. Michon Reynolds was known to walk around the house playing her invisible violin. It wasn’t until she was five when her family moved to East Lansing, MI was she able to began

taking violinand piano lessons. With East Lansing being a small fine arts community, Ms. Reynolds’ love for music and passion for violin began to thrive.

Ms. Reynolds attended violin classes before dawn at a local community center and walked to violin and piano lessons after school with a neighborhood teacher. She attended Blue Lake Fine Arts camp each summer throughout grade school and was chosen to attend Blue Lake’s international tour, which exposed Ms. Reynolds to eight countries in Europe.

During high school, Ms. Reynolds participated in various music activities all under the watchful eye of instructor Sunny Cirlin. She was a member of her high school orchestra, which created a fellowship with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. She was involved in a violin trio called the Kaleidoscope Trio, with whom she traveled to Toronto, Canada as music representatives for an international education conference. Ms. Reynolds was also a member of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, for which she had to travel more than an hour once a week to attend rehearsals.

For college studies, Ms. Reynolds was awarded a scholarship to attend an all female liberal arts institution called Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She happened to be the only violin music major all four years of study. It is for this very reason that she was granted several luxuries including being instructed by Beth Newdome, former concertmistress of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. She also attended classes with two or three other students, specifically arranged for her.

Since earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in music performance from Spelman, Ms. Reynolds has attended Aspen Music School and festival twice with fellow musicians from around the world. She became a strings teacher at Stone Mountain Middle School where she taught privately as well. Ms. Reynolds returned to graduate school where she earned an MBA in Marketing from Clark Atlanta University. Currently, she is a small business owner, private music educator and plays for events around the city of Atlanta.
