Steven Hevenstone
Piano / Voice / Trumpet / Guitar

Steven Hevenstone grew up in Bridgeport, CT in a supportive family environment. At the age of 3 he began learning piano from his Aunt who was a piano teacher. At six his parents signed him up with Norma Verilli in Bridgeport, CT for ten years. Because of his

 

enthusiasm for music Steven also began taking guitar and trumpet lessons at Dedario Music which was located in Trumbull, CT for eight years. At Dedario Music Steven also focused on Music Theory. Throughout his youth Steven won numerous awards for playing, composing and arranging.

In High School Steven got involved with the school theater and music departments. Theatrically he got heavily involved with acting. Steven also played trumpet in the marching band and was a soloist in the Choir, Madrigals, and Jazz Ensemble. He also got involved with his Synagogue choir singing as a soloist, composing and arranging pieces for the Cantor and choir and accompanying on the piano and the guitar.

After High School Steven went on to perform in professional traveling troupes throughout the East Coast playing various roles in theatrical productions and music directing. After doing tours Steven went on to get a College Degree in Business from American Intercontinental University graduating Suma Cum Laude. After attaining his BA Steven went on at American Intercontinental University to receive his Masters in Education. In 2002 Steven Began studying under Hazzan Y’Shaya Grama and Hazzan Sam Fordis through the Cantors Assembly to become a Cantor.

Currently Steven teaches music, drama, and prayer at various Synagogues in the Atlanta area. He is also a composer and arranger for Cantors throughout the United States. Steven can also be seen performing solo and with his band The Moody Jews.

Steven currently lives in East Cobb with his wife Kathleen and his sons Nathan and Aaron.
